The Story behind the film 'Ruth's Locket
Over two days, a group of dedicated people came together in 3 different locations to shoot the short film
"Ruth's Locket". It was the Directorial Debut of Actor Gene Burns. Filmed completely in San Marcos, Texas, the Director of Photography Layton Blaylock and produced by Dedicated Works Productions along with Layton Blaylock , DWP is co-owned with Gene Burns, Juli Dearrington Brinkley and Scot Brinkley. This film has touched everyones heart who has been associated with its subject matter and thus Dedicated to the Families of Alzheimer's Victims because we CAN REMEMBER.
The Impact
Mayor Daniel Guerrero, of the City of San Marcos, Texas encouraged the community to embrace "Ruth's Locket" in honor of their family members who may suffer from Alzheimer's Disease and to recognize the strength of the human spirit in love, family and creativity; Proclaiming April 19th, 2011 "Ruth's Locket Day" this was a very emotional day for the Director, it was 2 days away from his parents wedding anniversary. This film is in remembrance of his parents; Billie 'Ruth" Thompson 01/16/11 and Buster Burns (a/k/a Ole Cowboy). 2/20/11
Buster appears in the opening of the film, it was shot on January 22. 2011 and we lost ole cowboy on February 20, 2011.
"Ruth's Locket" has only received favorable reviews embracing ones emotionally, now it is time to enter it into Film Festivals all over the world; we have entered it thus far to some in the United States not to mention Malaysia and Australia Festivals. That is the reason for this fundraising campaign.
What this means for the Cast and Crew:
Film Festivals acceptance, will potentially provide the cast and the crew with their work being viewed by National and International audiences and film industry professionals. Also, draw attention to the families who suffer alongside their loved ones who suffer from this horrible disease, sad to say they are the ones who see their loved ones trapped.
What we need:
After researching the upcoming Film Festivals, duplicating Ruth's Locket, and U.S. Postal Services. We have found that so many would be a good fit for "Ruth's Locket" Looking at the entry fees of several, it seems like the average entry fee is right around $25 to $50. Along with mailing expenses and duplicating the film, many of film festivals require 2-3 copies of the film, along with posters, postcards.
