OLD MONSTER

The story of Beowulf. In New Jersey.

THE STORY

Old Monster is a modern-day adaptation of the story of "Beowulf," with some original adaptations thrown in.  However, instead of seeing the story through the eyes of Beowulf himself, we'll be looking at it through the eyes of the monster Grendel.  Or in this case, Garret.

The film follows Garret--a bitter, lonely, middle-aged man--as he frequents a diner, just so he can be near the one person in the world he doesn't hate: a waitress named Marie.  While Garret is falling for Marie, he is pulled in the opposite direction by his Mother: an awful, racist old woman who made Garret the person he is today.  And even though Mother is the most destructive, toxic influence in his life, she is also the only person who actually loves him.

In the end, Garret has to choose which female influence he is going to base his life around.  If any.

WHAT WE NEED & WHAT YOU GET

Making movies is very expensive, and most of the people working on this project are NYU film students.  So we are working on a very tight student budget.  Every cent you donate will go straight towards renting camera equipment, paying for transportation costs, and (MOST importantly) feeding our dedicated crew and professional actors--who are working on this project for FREE.

Donations of $5 gets you:

-A Special Thanks credit in the film

Donations of $20 gets you:

-All benefits above

-PLUS a free copy of the film upon completion

Donations of $50 gets you:

-All benefits above

-PLUS a free Old Monster T-Shirt (signed by the cast and crew, if you wish)

Donations of $100 or more gets you:

-All benefits above

-PLUS an Associate Producer credit in the film

OTHER WAYS YOU CAN HELP

Can't donate money but still want to help?  In-kind donations are always welcome!  If you want to donate food, volunteer on the set, or even if you just know someone who owns a diner and would be willing to let us shoot there (in return for tons of free publicity, of course) then contact us at OldMonsterFilm@gmail.com.  Any help is welcome.

Also, please SHARE THIS SITE with your friends, family, co-workers, and anyone else who could spare even a dollar to help a struggling group of students make this film a reality.
