Rochester, NY has a rich beer brewing history. Most of the breweries consolidated through the years and few relics remain. It's important to preserve structures with significant ties to Rochester's brewing history. 13 Cataract Street represents one of the only remaining pre-prohibition era brewing facilities and should be embraced as a centerpiece for future development rather than slated for demolition.
The Impact
After years of rumors KPS Capitol Partners / High Falls Brewery made it official by announcing their plans to construct a visitor center on the site of an old packaging facility. This visitor center would be a welcome addition to the City of Rochester and the High Falls Brewery…there is one problem though — their plans call for the demolition of 13 Cataract Street, Rochester’s oldest brewing facility and one of the last ties to Rochester’s fabled brewing history, to make room for 27 additional parking spaces. Rochester residents will gladly welcome a visitor center. Investing in the City of Rochester is wonderful. Why not develop plans that embrace this historic landmark and provide more creative solutions for parking?
What We Need
Please help us by donating. Your money will help us to raise awareness about the Rochester Brewing Landmark demolition and provide much needed funding to produce materials to be used for presentation to various boards and individuals that need to be educated about the value of this building and site. Every little bit helps.
