I am Koffi Klu, the President and Co-Founder of Blessings on Africa, Inc. Blessings on Africa is a US-based 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization committed to fighting poverty and related injustice in Africa through microfinance, education, health care, and technology, one village at a time.
Orphans and vulnerable children are the cornerstone of our program. Our vision is to provide equal opportunity to the orphans and the most vulnerable children in West Africa and help them achieve their God-given potential and become responsible and productive citizens.
My co-founder and I were born and raised in Africa. We had the opportunity to move to the US and further our education. We have now been here for over a decade and have created successful careers and fulfilling lives with our family and friends. A couple if years ago, we returned to Togo, our native land. We noticed poverty was rampant, farming methods were archaic, infrastructure was in shambles, the drinking water was polluted, and health care was appalling. The list goes on.
Perhaps the most disturbing need was the orphans in the villages. Poverty, AIDS, poor health care and antiquated farming methods have swelled the ranks of children without parents. Since these children have nothing, they are not even able to go to school, dooming them to a life of further poverty and hopelessness. Children as young as 5 years old must go work in the mountainous fields in the incredibly hot equatorial countryside just to survive.
We were moved to tears by the plight of the orphans, and immediately set about rectifying the situation. We have established the Childrens Sponsoring Program (CSP). For just $240 a year donors can sponsor an orphan; thats 63 cents a day, the kind of change we all throw into the change jar every day!
To date, we are caring for 163 orphans through the CSP. Among this group of 163, school attendance has increased from 53% to 100%. There are 54 orphans on the waiting list. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to sponsor 21 orphans in Togo for a whole year. Your donation will feed the child every day; ensure that he or she receives an education, clothing, and basic health care. You can change the life of a child overnight!
I want to assure you that every penny of your donation goes directly to meet the childs needs. Blessings on Africa covers the full cost of administrating the program. We also have very reliable, trustworthy volunteers in Togo who are administering the program at that end. Every year, we personally do an on-site audit to ensure that your money is being used exactly as it is designated.
