Our Story
My name is Emily Hunter, I am a young environmental activist that is fundraising to join her next campaign. DeforestAction: Project Borneo is a global action campaign driven by young people to help restore an endangered rainforest, save orangutans and help the local community in Indonesia. The project is led by acclaimed conservationist Dr. Willie Smits and Orangutan Outreach. If I achieve my fundraising goal, I will get the opportunity to participate in DeforestAction on the ground this summer!

The Impact
The forests of the world are disappearing fast. If we don't do something soon, they will all be destroyed, taking away the habitat of orangutans and other wildlife. In Indonesia alone, a forest the size of 300 football fields is being cut down every hour - to make way for palm oil plantations (product used for Dove soaps). DeforestACTION is about saving rainforests, regrowing destroyed forests, protecting the remaining orangutans, and holding those who are destroying our planet accountable.
What We Need & What You Get
If I can raise $5,000 & recruit 500 fans (here, see below), I'll be able to join DeforestACTION this summer! Any and all funds raised will go directly to securing and sustaining land for reforestation and protection. Willie Smits has secured land from the Sultan of Yogyakarta for DeforestACTION. This is in partnership with the local community for 99 years, the length of the land use agreement. You'll receive a certificate with the coordinates of the land you're preserving.
