Our Story:

A tormented Vietnam veteran seeks absolution from his inner demons and has a contentious encounter with an unusually familiar stranger.

From Hell to Here is a fictional short film that takes an abstract journey through the mind of a Vietnam Veteran who suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). 

The idea for this film started over 2 years ago when Producer/Director Rachell Shapiro read writer, Drew Shinnick's, script.  Rachell saw something really special on those pages and began on the journey of developing it into more than just an interesting piece of entertainment; but a film that has the chance to help promote change, and start a dialogue where maybe there was not one before.

We will also be donating 5% of the funds raised, if we meet our goal, to the Wounded Warrior Project; an organization that provides programs and services to severely injured service members as they transition back into civilian life. Here is WWP's website: http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/

According to the latest RAND Corporation study completed in 2008 nearly 20 percent of military service members who have returned from Iraq and Afghanistan 300,000 in all report symptoms of PTSD or Major Depression, yet only slightly more than half have sought treatment.

What We Need:

We need your help in getting this film made!

The old cliche' of "every little bit helps" is true on so many levels for our campaign!  Every single donation helps offset the pricey production costs and every one of you who contributes becomes part of a larger chorus of voices helping our veterans with invisible wounds.

Here are some of the items that your donations will be going towards:

Actors - The two characters in this film are the most essential pieces.  Our actors will take us through an emotional journey and they must be top-notch. Without quality actors the film will not work. 

Crew - Everyone knows a great team is key to putting together an amazing project. The same is definitely true for this film! We have a Director of Photography signed on and we still need an audio engineer, gaffer (lighting), and makeup artist.  We have people who are interested, we just need to be able to pay them for their quality work!

Production Equipment - We have been lucky enough to get a donation from a production house for some of our equipment, but not for everything - and there are still some essential pieces we need!

Location Permit - The location in the film is almost like another character in the film. We will be shooting the film in a state park which requires a permit that costs money.

Website - Our website will be a constantly evolving platform where we will update the films progress and also post videos, important links and info, and have forums on various topics concerning our veterans and PTSD. Our web designer has generously given us his services at a differed rate.  He believes in our project and we hope you will as well!

Original Score - The music of a film can can add so much to the overall impact.  The soundtrack will be an integral part of our film and will add a layer of emotion that is so important for the topic that From Hell to Here is addressing.

Stock Footage - We will need to purchase stock footage of real war images.  This will be one of the most expensive components of the post-production costs but will be vital to the authenticity and intensity of the film.

Our Promise:

We promise to you that even if we do not make our goal. This film will be made.  We feel so strongly about this film and so passionate about this cause that we will work to make it happen no matter what.  And EVERY dollar will be put towards the making and completion of this film (other than the 5% that we will donate to WWP if we make our goal).  

But lets all join together to make sure we reach our goal (or beyond!) so that this cause gets the high quality film it so truly deserves!
