Dagmar, a young burn victim with an abusive father, leaves small town America for Bakersfield after falling in love with a metal worker. Hef, however, is impotent and doesn’t believe anyone can love him as he is, resulting in a psychologically cruel and self-destructive relationship that can only be saved by murder.
