Not many people in 2009 Israel can say the words Tikkun Olam (Repairing the World) and back up the concept with action. “Hametaknim” is a feature length documentary film, portraying this group of people alumni of Young Judaea, an old Zionist youth movement who made aliyah in disproportionately large numbers, and became leaders of organizations for environmental, social, and political change. The film presents their story, beginning at the summer camp in Tel Yehudah, New York, the milestones of their lives, the numerous obstacles they face, and the way they have been transporting their American ideals in order to make Israel a better place.
