The project is a short film about how one small moment in one’s life can alter your path, or bring an awareness to oneself that you have never noticed before.

When Justin and I met on an short film that a friend was making, I was just a writer and he was just an actor; but soon we found we both had a similar vision to bring stories to people that weren’t about the degradation of society and weren’t about the Hollywood formula. We wanted to make films that when people watched them, they left the theater with a thought process going… one that was positive or thought-provoking. We don’t aim to preach but we want to challenge our viewers to create a better understanding of themselves and the world around them. This is why we began Draco Equus Productions.

This film is our first effort into our vision to create media that focuses on the human condition in a realistic and touching way, to introduce them into the worlds we want to share in the future. The film focuses on a young man in his last year of school, coasting by, until one day, something is amiss. A girl that he has never talked to or remembered even noticing is no longer there. He begins a mentally driven quest to find out what happened to her. In the process, he learns that he isn’t as apathetic as he thought he was, and the satisfaction of finding her and the answer to his question clues him in- that at that moment in time- he has nothing to offer the world… yet. Title: HEARTS ON THE KNEE.

Out of all my stories, the director Justin Zachary, chose this one because of the way it touched him emotionally. This will be a visually driven film, with voice over style that will take you along this journey. We are filming it in Bakersfield, California with the help of some really excited Shafter High School students and some amazing friends and family have come together to help us make this film. Shafter/Bakersfield is the director’s home. It will be an homage to where he grew up by including precious details of the scenery and buildings that have memories.

We encourage our friends and fans to spread the word even if they cannot pledge an amount. Can’t wait to see you all at the premiere! (all contributors will get a special thanks in the film)
