Washington DC now has the highest AIDS rate in the country, a rate that rivals many sub-Saharan African nations. It’s also exemplary of trends in the black community across the country — taken as its own population, it is estimated that Black Americans would fall amongst the 25 worst affected countries in the world.

It’s also exemplary of trends in the black community across the country — taken as its own population, it is estimated that Black Americans would fall amongst the 25 worst affected countries in the world.

The film will intimately follow select children from DC and South Africa, engaged in unique sister programs that use the power of soccer to teach AIDS prevention — Grassroot Project in DC and Grassroot Soccer in Africa. The kids will be paired as “pen pals” – exchanging videos and emails across the world and will all meet in South Africa in June – just in time to bring their battle against AIDS to the World Cup 2010. Not your typical AIDS documentary – this film will be a positive exciting story of kids reaching across countries actively engaged in sports to change their global community.
