As Hitler’s troops marched across the Balkan States in the early 1940s, they sealed the fate of over a million Jews. But in Albania, a mostly Muslim country, the fate of the Jews looked entirely different. In this documentary, the incredible history of Albania’s Muslims is woven throughout the journey of two men: Rexhep Hoxha – who is trying to return a set of mysterious books to the survivor that his family sheltered over 60 years ago, and Norman Gershman – an American photographer determined to shed light on this long forgotten piece of history.
Filmed in Albania, Bulgaria, Israel, and the United States, more than twenty in-depth interviews were conducted with survivors, rescuers and other witnesses.God’s House is currently in post production.

| HOW THESE FUNDS WILL BE USED |
| Hidden away at the Library of Congress is an amazing film of Albania in the 1930s shot by two American schoolteachers. Never before requested until discovered by God's House, the film has deteriorated and is in need of restoration.
Unlike newsreel archive, which is usually buildings, dignitaries or special events, the LOC Albania film depicts REAL PEOPLE doing EVERYDAY THINGS.
Incorporating this footage into the God's House film would open a window on a place and time forgotten by history.
Our need is urgent. It will take 6 - 8 weeks and cost $8,000 to restore this film. In the meantime, we are struggling to raise funds to score the film, and the footage will have to be incorporated before scoring is complete. We hope to have God's House completed by March 2010.
