Our Story

Actively working for that "change," is what caused the completion of a 19 minute narrative work based on this very true occurence. Stigmas are everywhere, oppressing people, suffocating growth in their relationships, shaming them silent and sometimes causing their deaths.

The need to do something about that is what gave rise to the creation of our fictional story. In our story you'll meet SIMON, a successful nightclub owner who is engaged to his match AISHA. Pushed to travel to an estranged brother who has been the victim of a hate biased crime SIMON meets ERTIA - a woman who makes him confront his prejudice because of hers. Every moment is hard won, every decision defended, but their love/hate dealings coupled together with a devastating performance he watches her do - leaves him defenseless to the charm of challenge and allure. Til the unapologetic fire gathers disapproval...

The story is set in a dynamic environment which boasts the sounds of DJs spinning trance, techno and club while filling the screen with a striking line up of characters, who represent people from real life that catch our attention, yet who never make it to the big screen. The dialogue is sharp and real, revealing underlying issues our society currently strains to resolve and actors are being cast that promise to make this tale leap off the screen.

The Impact

People who have never knowingly met a transgender person yet have ideas about what they will be, how they will be, how the transaction will go, even what their own reaction will be to them are going to be introduced to someone as unique as they come and challenged through the story to have their own reaction - not the one the media keeps recycling then handing to them.

Yes, we know we are media. We are referring to the "OTHER," media. Lol.

After viewing this film, we hope the audience will expect a spectrum of expressions and feelings when encountering transgendered people and that the possibilities explored in this short film remain as a positive stain (of sorts), informing future reactions.

What We Need & What You Get

Our Indie GoGo goal is $30,000, a fraction of our total budget. $30,000 dollars will allow us to:

1) Get the best HD Camera and DP for our film.
2)Make sure we have a top-notch professional crew.
3)Secure great locations for maximum visual impact for our film.
4) Hire the best editor we can to bring depth and feeling to this emotional and poignant story.

You will get worthwhile mementos based on the size of your contribution and everyone who contributes gets something! *Take a look at the rewards section!*

You might get the opportunity to participate by being an extra on set, the chance to speak with a producer, attend the wrap party, receive the behind-the-scenes footage, lunch with cast & crew one day during the short. And best of all you will be able to follow the progress of the film, see how the monies are being spent all the way to fruition.
