Our Story

Do you remember your first love, that person who made you weak in the knees?  In 2010, Glitterati Productions staged a reading of the heartwarming and tender play Beautiful Thing, a compelling drama about troubling secrets and discovering the delicious tension that comes with first love.  Audiences were so deeply moved by this play of hope and acceptance that they urged us to stage a full production. We had such a wonderful time with the staged reading, we had to agree.

Founded in 2005, Glitterati Productions is a team of industry professionals.  When not actively producing, they lend their talents to various production companies in the Chicagoland area.  Combined, they bring with them more than 50 years of theatrical experience.

The Synopsis

Beautiful Thing tells the story of Jamie and Ste, two courageous and questioning teenage boys dealing with their sexuality and the impact it has on the people in their tough, south-east London community. Their story is one of universal appeal.

What We Need & What You Get

You can help us take the first step in getting this wonderful play produced. Our initial goal is to raise $5,000. With these donated funds, we can take care of basic, but necessary, items such as legal fees, royalties, and a theater deposit. Then we will solicit a limited number of theater investors to join with all of us early supporters to raise the final capital and make the production a reality. We are fully and passionately devoted to staging this stunning theatrical work. Glitterati members have committed to work tirelessly until we can bring this production to a Chicago stage.  If for any reason this production cannot be mounted, your donation will go toward the next Glitterati production and the perks mentioned below will be honored.
