Dear Supporters,

We're eternally grateful for the support you gave us, which enabled us to shoot the film (a very essential step to getting a film made!)

We have now completed most of Post Production and begun to submit to Film Festivals.

Everybody is credited as agreed in the "Incentives" on the credits of the film, and will be so (except "Thanks" level) on IMDB as well.

We're going to have a Supporter/Cast/Crew screening in the fall - probably October 2011 in New York City, and will let you know about festivals it plays at near you throughout 2012.

WHAT?
A great new short film called: Girls Who Smoke coming to you soon from Tawnya & Friends.  We need to shoot in a few weeks to work with everyone who's been able to come onto the project thus far.  Help us make it happen.  This is a quirky indie film with heart.  A short film adapted from Jen Hixson's Moth story- also featured on This American Life!

LOGLINE:
A chance meeting unites two women with bad boyfriends and bad habits.
SHORT SYNOPSIS:
"Girls Who Smoke" tells the story of how a shared cigarette can lead to a friendship where you least expect it, and how a stranger can bring about a sudden sense of self discovery an inspire a life change...
WHY AND HOWD IT COME ABOUT:
This is a short adapted from The Moth story told by Moth producer, Jen Hixson, and also re-played on This American Life.
Director, Tawnya Foskett, was looking for a great story to make a short film about and fell in love with this one instantly upon hearing it on the radio, then started stalking Jen to give her the rights!
It is a slice-of-life drama, female-centered, about the moments that are the essence of friendship, and also the decision to love ourselves enough to make courageous changes in our life. It is a story of friendship and growth, and casually touches upon domestic violence, escapism, poverty but only in the most everyday kind of way.
