Garden of Rockets is a large-scale fire-art piece being made for Burning Man 2011. It's comprised of three propane-driven kinetic sculptures:
4pyre, which was at Burning Man 2010, traces out a sphere with two rockets.
PyroGoRound traces out a torus with 6 rockets.
Pyroticulation has 2 rockets that travel in spirograph-like paths.
Each machine has a control panel with a crank that sets the direction of the rockets, a throttle lever, and a button to make the burners spin rapidly. As was the case last year, the machines are operable by anyone who'd like to try!
Burning Man has generously provided funds for the construction of this project, but not for the propane. All three machines consume 150 gallons of propane per night. The total is about two tons of propane, which costs about $3000. There is nothing left in the construction budget. Would you please help us out?
If we reach our goal of $3000, we can be sure that Garden of Rockets can perform Monday through Saturday night at Burning Man. If we don't, we may have to curtail operation hours. If we exceed this goal, we may be able to operate on Sunday night as well!
Any amount is helpful and most welcome!
