Our Story
After years of working in the fashion industry, we realized what a destructive impact the clothing and textile industry can have on communities, environments and economies around the world, so we committed ourselves to researching and promoting sustainable design as a solution.
The information on sustainability that is currently available can be confusing, misleading and incomplete. Our mission is to build the centralized resource and standardized vocabulary for sustainable design that doesn't yet exist in in fashion and textiles.

Our Impact
We've written a curriculum of Sustainable Design Fundamentals that will be offered as seminars in our studio in downtown NYC, but also (and more importantly) as a series of online interactive webinars that will be accessible to people around the world.
Ultimately this isn't just about us, this is about an entire community of dedicate people who want to learn.
To give you an idea of the ground we'll cover, here are the class titles for our

Brand Positioning: Telling the Story of Sustainability
We have the information creative professionals need, and we believe the best way to get it out there is to build an entirely new platform for professional education. With GUILDED, we're creating customized learning modules and immersion training for entrepreneurs, designers and corporate teams. We're offering seminars and workshops in sustainable methods and practices, as well as master classes in artisan techniques. Class topics range from design and production to business administration to lifestyle tools - but every educational experience, whether in-person or online, one-on-one or in a group, is designed to provide students with strategic, practical, relevant and immediately accessible tools for implementing and activating sustainable design thinking into their business and products.
What We Need & What You Get
What we actually need is $40,000 (but our campaign is for $15,000 because it is the bare minimum necessary to launch our education program in the Fall). Here's where the money will go:
- furniture for the classrooms
- technology tools (i.e., projector, screen)
- web development to build an interactive classroom for remote seminars
-
producing community education events
- statistical analysis and market research
- designer surveys and beta testing with industry experts
- creating seasonal trend reports
- production for first series of video seminars teaching (101 Series: Sustainable Design Fundamentals)
- videography
- lighting
- sound
- editing and post-production
We want to do this right, not halfway or "good enough". The fashion industry needs a wake-up call, but it won't pay attention unless the education we're offering is meticulously packaged and well-presented. It IS the fashion industry, after all! And we're doing this all on our own, no other funding, so the more money we raise, the more professionals we can reach.
Other Ways You Can Help
GUILDED is committed to social and environmental leadership, but we need your leadership as well! Help us share our mission by passing this on to your friends, writing about it on your blogs, connecting through Facebook and Twitter, and by coming to our seminars and workshops right here at the studio.
