Our Story
A two-alarm fire gutted a home containing five apartments in Faubourg Marigny Sunday night.
No one was injured in the blaze but seven tenants who live in the complex at the corner of Spain Street and Dauphine Street were left homeless. The apartments, part of a converted home that was two stories on Spain Street and a single story on Dauphine Street, were left badly damaged, with siding burned away and little remaining unscathed inside.
The Impact
We now have seven people homeless. two of the apartments? had nothing left to be salvaged. We are working desperately to provide clothing, and more.. but the bottom line? is the holidays are almost upon us, as the winter months. It is our hope to get these seven people into a better situation as soon as possible.
What We Need & What You Get
We have set up drop off booths for clothing already, and cannot take in any furniture, until we find a place for these people to live. We want you to know, that what you get in return for this/ is knowing that you helped a friend in need, and that every little bit counts.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you are in the New Orleans area? you can drop off clothing at the Hi Ho Lounge at 2239 st claude avenue, or you can drop off at Kajuns Pub, 2256 st claude avenue. Kajuns is open 24 hours. You can also attend an all day fundraiser at the hi ho lounge on nov 13th, beginning at noon. many local musicians and artists have gotten together to help these folks find a new place to live. thank you!!
