FilmMcQueen has produced 6 shorts that lend themselves to social action on a variety of issues – from teen pregnancy, to Alzheimer’s. Jane is writer/director/editor and producer on 5 of the six project.
Most recently, she has completed, “MOM,” a real time 10 minutes of time between a daughter and her Mother who is suffering from Alzheimer’s. That film has just begun playing festivals, starting with the DC Independent in Washington DC.
Prior to that “The Touch,” which was completed October 2007, has played over 26 festivals (and still getting inquiries), won best dramatic short at the Ft. Worth Gay and lesbian film festival and aired on HERE TV in 2008.

“Carrie’s Choice,” a pro-choice film about a young girl who becomes unexpectely pregnant, was fiscally sponsored by Women Make Movies, and made with the Panasonic Digital Filmmaker’s Grand Prize and the help and support of Planned Parenthood – LA.
A Host of Daffodils, made in 2004, is about a family that must confront their religious and idealistic difference when the patriarch suffers a stroke, played 16 festivals, earned 2 awards, was nominated 4 times for best short and is distributed by Big Film Shorts.
The company’s first film was “Dog Gone” about their little dog who was stolen out of their yard and what they did to try to get him back.
Jane has recently completed her first director for hire job for a script she also wrote, entitled “Beyond Words,” a 20 minute film about a mother and wife rediscovering the woman she was.
Jane has spoken on panels covering production, fundraising, marketing and distribution, and filmmakers and social change. She is writing a book on making short films from Idea through Distribution, and is a board member and programmer for the Woods Hole Film Festival in Cape Cod, Massachusets.
