Our Story
Hello, my name is Rodney Luis Aquino and I'm a Writer/Director with www.leftdigitalmedia.com and I wanted to tell you a little bit about our Documentary Project titled "Exposed-Let the Music Play" based on the Freestyle Music Scene of the 80's-90's. This Documentary is something I have been wanting to do for some time now and realized that a lot of the original artists are in fact still here in Florida and other states such as: New York, Las Vegas, and etc...I looked up several of them and located one then another and another and I was surprised at how easy it was to contact them. We have already interviewed Laurie Miller who was the original member of the female group "Expose," and learned quite a bit about her past, present and future. We want to locate as many artists as possible and let them tell their stories to their fans.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Freestyle or Latin freestyle, sometimes referred to as Latin hip hop, is a form of electronic dance music that emerged in the early 1980s. Mostly popular during the mid 80s to the early 90s. It continues to be produced today and enjoys some degree of popularity, especially in urban Latino and Italian communities, as it did when it first came on to the scene. |

We go on a journey to re-discover the original founding members of the east coasts freestyle music scene who paved the way for a new genre of music in the 80's - 90's. We interview them and describe the hardship's of the music entertainment industry and where they are today. Follow us and Journey back into time and relive the memories and Let The music Play!!! |
The Impact
Our idea for this project is to re-introduce the Freestyle Music Scene to the world and also re-live the past music that meant so much to us from that generation!!!
What We Need & What You Get
Here's where we need your help. The money raised will go to the traveling needed to pursue the artists and get the interviews needed. A lot of the artists live in different states and driving will be one of our only options due to the amount of equipment and personnel needed to to shoot the project. Along with the costs of traveling, other expenditures needed will be for living arrangements, food, gasoline and petty cash in cases of emergencies. This project will take place over several months to a year depending on availability of the artists. We plan on doing video blogs as we go and also upload photo's of our journey to update you on our progress. We want you to be involved in the process. We plan on finding unique incentives for you as a thanks for helping us achieve our goals. We plan on giving you the credit you deserve on this film as well as special items still in work.
