Bio: I fell into this business in a way that was not that different from Alice falling into that ol’ rabbit hole. By age 19 I was an extras casting director in a decent size market. Things got weird and I ran. I celebrated my 21st birthday delivering pizzas far from the bright lights of the entertainment industry. Like a bad rash in a far away place you just can’t reach, the world of film and television repeatedly bubbled to the surface.
It’s been ten years since I walked onto set for the first time. It has been a good run. Working behind the camera has taken me around the world and crashing through many a police roadblock in far off foreign lands. I hope the next ten are half as exciting.
In October 2008 Downpour Media will follow the missionary group, The Freedom Team as they serve the incarcerated men and women of El Salvador. We just returned from El Salvador and what an amazing trip it was. In the 2 weeks before leaving we were able to raise well over $15,000 to cover the cost of the trip. We have returned with over 150 hours of footage to go through. After the first of the year we will be relocating our offices to Oregon and we will begin work on the post-production.
We received both very good and very sad news today. The good news is that a local organization has notified that they will be donating a gift to our project, Freedom Behind Bars. We will officially find out the amount this evening.
It breaks my heart to share that one of our contacts in El Salvador was gunned down recently. As a a former gang member he chose to not hide but live a life has a prominent leader in a local church. Doing what he could to help others leave the violent gang life.
It is believed that he was killed by a former rival gang. I have begun to contact my other team mates across the US and so far they are even more determined to see this project to the end.
We have just partnered with an incredible artist/songwriter Tracy Howe.
We share the same heart and desire to pursue social justice issues globally. She has agreed to write all original music for our upcoming project, Freedom Behind Bars. Check out our new video, Watch What Love Can Do to see a sample of here amazing talent as a song writer.
