Howdy! I'm Dorian Wood. I am an independent artist in Los Angeles, and I am currently immersed in the recording of my second full-length studio album, Rattle Rattle, which is due for release this summer. Over 100 musicians are appearing on Rattle Rattle (aaah!). This is the biggest and loudest one so far. Think Tom Waits and Scott Walker re-working Brian Wilson's "Smile"(!). I have released 3 recordings so far: BOLKA (debut album), Black Pig Suite (EP) and Brutus (live album). All of these are independent releases, supported by the talents of incredibly gifted friends, many of whom will also appear on Rattle Rattle. I have been a member of the experimental musicians' collective Killsonic for about 4 years. During this time, I have had several dreams about the end of the world, and the effect it could have on people who frequently hallucinate, or are frequently in love. Are YOU one or the other? Or perhaps both? If so, then Rattle Rattle will speak volumes to you.
As I mentioned, there will be over 100 people participating on this album, including all 30+ members of Killsonic, and a new choir of 50+ members: The Difficult Women. Horns, percussion, accordions, voices, strings...all manner of BIG! My goal is to record these sections in two separate sessions, in a sizable space with good acoustics. Your pledge would help ensure the rental of the space, as well as food & refreshments that day for the musicians and crew. Your pledge would also cover the growing costs of recording Rattle Rattle, followed by the crucial mixing/mastering (lots of instruments, LOTS of mixing/mastering) and, finally, the creation of physical Rattle Rattle CDs. And, if funds permit...Rattle Rattle on delightful vinyl. Mmmm...
