Nearly every dusty street in the Dominican Republic is filled with kids playing with makeshift milk-carton gloves, bottle-cap balls, and sticks for bats. Driven by the love of the game, and hoping to escape the country’s extreme poverty, an entire generation of Dominican children dream of being peloteros.
