Our Story
Adam Radakovich and I have been friends since he was two years old and I was ten. He's about seven feet tall (no exaggeration), dashingly handsome, and enormously talented as a fashion designer with a degree from Parsons in NYC. But that's nothing compared to the goodness of his heart. Adam is a rare, magical friend who is generous even when he's bending over backwards (and seven feet is a long way to bend!) to make something good happen for someone else.
So when Adam told me he wanted to design and create a dress for my rehearsal dinner, I was thrilled and so touched. And when he followed up, sending me four beautiful sketches from which I could choose, I felt very lucky and overwhelmed by his generosity.
But Adam is very young and just beginning his career, and I don't want him funding this dress himself. I don't even let him pay for his own burrito when I'm with him! He's a young artist in a very big city. (Can you tell I'm about a decade older than him and still think of him as a baby?)
So when I learned about IndieGoGo and fell so much in love with the platform and people that I joined their business development team, I thought: "what better way to help Adam than by sharing his work with an audience and creating a campaign to amplify his support?"
The Impact
By funding this campaign, you're not just funding a dress. You're placing your faith in a young artist and his talent. You're giving him a vote of confidence and becoming someone with whom he can share his work and talent as he grows into the fantastically successful fashion designer I've known he would be since he was a baby twirling a baton in go-go boots and a diaper. Become a part of Adam's path to confident design and creation, all by endorsing what's most important about him: his generous heart to share his art with others.
What We Need & What You Get
Adam has to purchase the materials for this dress, including organza, silk, and fine jersey, and he should be compensated for his labor. More importantly, I would like to provide him with a little seed money to fund other projects and to amplify his audience of interested consumers and caring supporters. Adam works really hard for another designer, and he is very grateful for that work. I'm doing this campaign on his behalf because I cherish him, and he would never ask for this. But he does not have the funding to create many of the designs he sketches, and your contribution is a vote of confidence and provides the funding to help him turn more beautiful ideas into reality. And as perks, we will provide the highest contributors with beautiful signed copies of Adam's sketches, just below that -- beautiful unsigned copies, and contributors at any level will receive a photo of the final product. It's not an exaggeration to say that you will be a part of fashion design history by funding this independent designer in such a unique way.
