Our Story
Story Synopsis
It is a dark story with an unusually uplifting and hopeful ending. It draws inspiration from many folk, fairy and mythological tales but in many ways reverses the roles of the victim and the hunter
The Animation
I have always seen Dear Little Emmie as an animation. When the book was released I approached animator Francesco Sala with the proposal and he came on board with great enthusiasm. Using the Graphic Novel as a base we have story boarded the entire book into a piece that runs for around 20 minuets. Whilst working on this we have built a team of people to work with us on the project. The team is made up of producer Neigeme, two animators including Francesco Sala as Director and animator, three artists including myself as Artistic director and Karel Swanapole, musician Lee Westwood who wrote the original piece of music inspired by Dear Little Emmie back in 2005. Also on the team is a film photographer and sound editor.
Francesco Sala and I have worked together before on a short piece which was shown on the Large screen at in , to mark the opening of my exhibition 'Into the Woods'. Whilst working on this Francesco developed his own technique of animating my work. He has created a way of replicating my illustrative technique, utilising the same line work and cross hatching effect that is prominent throughout all of my illustration work. Because of this unique approach, his animation work stands apart from any other animated productions.
With this team of people behind us and your valued donations, we hope to complete the animation of Dear Little Emmie within a year of starting. When completed the animation will be combined in one package as a DVD and Graphic novel box set produced and distributed by the books original publishers 'Au Fond Du Grenier'. Our other aim is to have the film première at a major international Animation film festival (Stuttgart festival of animated Film, Puppet Animation Festival, Ottawa International Animation Festival, London International Animation Festival, Hiroshima International Animation Festival, Annecy International Animated Film Festival etc.).
Investing in Dear Little Emmy is an invitation to help bring an artistic vision into fulfilment. It is also a chance to become more deeply involved in the filmmaking process, to participate in the creative community of filmmaker, cast and crew and to access the creative methods of what goes into making an animated film.

INVESTING BACK INTO THE COMMUNITY
making Dear Little Emmy happen, we are committed to furthering your generosity by investing back into the community. We will offer two high quality outreach and participatory workshops, working with a group of youths at risk of social exclusion and young people in local authority care who are considered vulnerable, challenging, and hard to reach. The hands-on workshops will be over a two-week period. They will be set up in a fun and informative way to support and engage the participant’s creative mind. The sessions aim to encourage and inspire the participants to rediscover their potential and to successfully enable them to develop their own unique creative voice through the process of animated filmmaking..
