Our Story

The men and women in the armed forces start coming home this summer. No matter how you feel about the military...it can't be denied that having our troops return safely is a wonderful thing.

The power of words...

My name is Natalye Vivian and I'm a student at VFS in the EBM program.
Each term at school we have a project benefitting a charity. My final project is a music video of a song written about the troops coming home,
I would like the proceeds of the song and video to go to the PPCLI foundation which has wondeful programs for military families, Operational Stress rehabiliation and military musuems. The song is called "Dear Jane" By Whiskey Jane/Natalye Vivian and is about two sisters writing each other, one at war, one at home, and how the words they write each other help both of them cope. The video and song would be released on Remembrance Day 2011.

This is a project that is very dear to my heart. I'm sure we have all had friends and family over there, and I would like to celebrate their homecoming as well as raise awareness for the work our troops have been doing. I think it's very important to let Canada know that our troops are are coming home...we need to celebrate this!

For the video, I would like to go to Afghanistan or bases around Canada and film our troops holding signs of the first person they wanted to see when they stepped off the plane, who they missed the most...Mom, Dad, Wife... or words of inspiration...hope...love... peace...These images would be incorporated into the video in the chorus. The chorus of the song is about the power of words and how they help us get through hard times. The second part of the video would be the story of the sisters writing each other, and the band playing the song.

I would also like to film a mini-documentary of my time getting there, being there and coming home

The Impact

This is a chance to be a part of a celebration! We are trying to raise awareness that our troops are coming home  safely. The more money we raise, the more of a chance we have to get this message out. You can help be a part of history in the making by helping the military museum in Alberta and rehabilitate soldiers coming home from war. Dear Jane is a song about troops returning home and what make it really special is that the song is about WOMEN in the military too! This hasn't been done since WWII...

What We Need & What You Get

So far we've raised $1600 for the Dear Jane project. But we need help to get us us get to bases around Canada-travel expenses. We also need help with equipment rentals and feeding our very hungry crew! Money will also be used to market the video and mini-doc. We're aiming to have the video on CMT, MuchmoreMusic and Bravo as well as Youtube, Facebook and other social media sites. You also have a chance to send in a picture of your own message to the troops and be in the video, or get a free download of "Dear Jane" before it's released!
