Our Story

True Alternatives Media (in association with Mousenest Productions) is proud to announce that principle photography has wrapped on its first feature film "Dark of Moon".  However, now is when we really need the help and support of everyone out there!  While work continues on editing, the post-production push to bring this landmark comedy to the world has just begun.  That's where you come in: by contributing to Dark of Moon's finishing fund, you can help change the face of independent film in Ohio, support fresh talent, and bring a refreshingly unique film to a world desperately in need of something new.

The Impact

Dark of Moon is the result of the collaboration of a unique blend of creative talents.  Incredible actors, a talented and innovative crew, a writer/director with a unique outlook, musicians who have slaved in obscurity for far too long, and many more have come together to craft a comedy that is entertaining, touching, and refreshingly unique.  By helping us bring Dark of Moon to the world, you can help us:

Change The Face of Independent Film in Ohio:

For many years, independent film in Ohio has been the domain of the horror film.  While there's nothing wrong with horror, we all know that the creative community in this state is capable of SO much more!  By bringing a comedy film out of this area, and making it a high-profile event, we hope to inspire others in Ohio to break out of the established mold and create dramas, romances, comedies, and much more.  Diversity brings strength, and creating a vibrant, dynamic creative film-making atmosphere can only help to attract investment, talent, and other resources to Ohio that will make everyone...even the horror films...that much better for it.

Support Fresh Talent:

Most of those involved in Dark of Moon are new faces in the film-making world.  Horror fans will recognize some incredible talent involved with the project, but the majority of actors in the movie are making their feature film debuts in Dark of Moon. Likewise, while our Director of Photography and Writer/Director have been involved in other independent projects, none have been so promising or as high a quality as Dark of Moon.  

Something New, Something Unique:

Any film fan will tell you that originality in film seems to be in short supply these days.  Remakes, reboots, and formula films are being churned out at an alarming rate.  Dark of Moon is different...an original concept (a group of friends find that being an adult has lost it's novelty, and need to decide just what their adult personas are all about), and unique setting (the film takes place in the Neo-Pagan/Wiccan community, with 100% realistic portrayals of Neo-Pagan/Wiccan people... something that has never been seen before in film history) make Dark of Moon an island of originality in a sea of redundancy.  Film-making is a business...the more support originality has, the more originality will be in demand in Hollywood.

What We Need & What You Get

The money raised through this campaign will help us secure distribution of this film so that it's available anywhere and everywhere.  We need help in finding a Producer's Rep (who acts like an agent to help sell a film to distributors), and finding one will entail making promotional materials (posters, DVD screeners, photographs, etc), travel expenses (there are no Producer's Reps in Ohio), and possibly outsourcing some post production processing 

Another step in bring Dark of Moon to the world is getting it into film festivals.  This is how unknown films become known, and getting the movie into film festivals isn't free.  There are entry fees (often non-refundable), and some festivals only want movies where the film-makers can be there to help promote screenings, which means more travel expenses.  

Furthermore, we will be putting on our own screenings of Dark of Moon to help make this film's release an event, and that means space rental, advertising, and more.
