Landon Dallas Shelby was born on September 18, 1973 in Mountain Home, Arkansas, the fourth child of Bill and Norma Shelby. His upbringing was that of your typical boy in the deep South, days spent doing chores and roaming the wide open spaces that surrounded his country home and nights in the floor of the family room breathlessly watching the classic movies of the 30s and 40s.
But, as with most childhood dalliances, Dallas ’ fascination faded with his introduction to girls… and Woody Allen films.
As an ambitious college student with a passion for writing, Dallas Shelby founded a satirical magazine, the Pasquinade. Within a couple years the publication went online and a media empire was born. As the site grew it collected awards, creative storytellers and a loyal audience. An auspicious introduction to a film school graduate led to the next step on the road toward a mini-independent empire — movie making.
Not content being a starving artist, Dallas makes his living as a nonprofit communications director. He is also a past resident filmmaker at the Creative Alliance in Baltimore, a recipient of an Individual Artist Award from the Maryland State Arts Council and a champion of independent film.
