The Story of 'Daddy's Little Girl'

From controversial Australian Writer/Director Chris Sun comes Daddy’s Little Girl; a story about a single father, his bond with his six year old daughter, and his response to the most heinous of crimes committed by someone he thought he could trust.

As humans, we don't always agree on fair punishment for guilty child abuse offenders. Some believe in prison and others in vengeance; justice or revenge. Daddy’s Little Girl asks the question, if you had the choice, what would you do?

Set to be the most talked about film of 2012, Daddy's Little Girl is based on actual events and is a must see for any parent.

In absolute contrast to his previous film, Come and Get Me, this film has a powerful and realistic script backed by an experienced team of Queensland film makers dedicated to telling it.

Child Abuse in Australia

From Chris Sun

Throughout history in Australia there have been many cases of Paedophilia, child abduction and murder. A lot of these cases go unsolved or the perpetrator is given a jail sentence comparable to some repeat traffic offenders - and is released after only a couple of years. In this country, such convicted criminals could be living just up the road from you, protected by Australian law.

Daddy’s Little Girl is a touching story about some of these cases from the Sunshine Coast and I wanted to share with the world that this problem needs to stop. Daddy’s Little Girl also talks about single parenting in Australia and how it is now more common today than twenty years ago.

Daddy’s Little Girl is based on actual events. We touch base on the stories’ of Sian Kingi, Leanne Oliver, Patricia Leedie and Daniel Morcombe to name a few. Although all names and what exactly happened to these children have been changed, locals will certainly know to whom we are referring to throughout the film.

Research shows that around 80% of attacks against children worldwide come from either someone the child knows or a family member. This is an outstanding figure; when we always tell our children about ‘stranger danger,’ but consider; how many times have you, as a parent, told your son or daughter to give a friend a kiss good night even though they didn’t want to.  “Come and give Uncle Tony a kiss goodnight,” as you sit at the family barbeque. All parents have seen this situation but the question remains; how well do we really know Uncle Tony? The last thing families need is unnecessary mistrust, but the statistics speak for themselves.

Daddy’s Little Girl will not only open eyes to what is happening around Australia but will divide our nation with the outcome. Some of us believe in the justice system and others believe in... well, you can work it out. Although this is an independent film we will make waves all over the world with the most powerful film to come out of Australia in recent years.

Please take the time to read everything we have in this sponsorship proposal and help us tell this amazing story. We really need your help to make this production a success and turn our script into an amazing feature film; and all right here on the Sunshine Coast. Most Aussie Film makers head to America to make their dream come truebut the Slaughter FX team are proud Aussie’s and we have an Aussie Story that needs to be told in Australia!

What we've accomplished so far!

To date, Daddy's Little Girl has raised $79,000 toward the production of the film that has already covered:

Steve Boyle - Special Effects Artist Extraordinaire.
Already smashing out the props for the final scenes of the film!

Location Sound Recording Equipment Package
4 track recorders, wireless mics and a boom kit for clear production sound.

Camera Rig and Accessories
All the bells and whistles to make our little 5D the Frankenstein's Monster it needs to be for the rigours of feature production.

Canon 5D Mk II
If the RED was Batman, then this humble stills camera would be Robin. The indie film makers first contact point in the world of cinematic feeling films.

Lighting Kit
A ton of lights so we're never for want of extra illumination - so bright you could light through a wall! Maybe even two...

Above the line Costs
Development ain't free, and even though you can tap out a script in your basement - you can't have it printed distributed, wheel and deal with folks and raise funds without burning through some coin.

How your contribution will help!

Even though we've done pretty well (by our standards) so far, we still have the final $25,000 to go before we've hit the mark! With pre-production in it's final days, we're running out of time to raise these funds as more and more work is required to actually make the film. We start shooting on February 6 on the Sunshine Coast and we NEED YOUR HELP to step this film up from simply being shot, to being shot beautifully. This will be the difference between a good film, and a great film. The difference between festival entrance, and walking away with Best Picture.

For every contribution we're offering significant rewards and perks from signed posters to genuine SFX props, costumes and paraphernalia from the film to props that are currently for sale! Entries into prize draws, opportunities to be in the film as well as publicity and marketing perks for businesses and business owners.

The outstanding items on our hit list are:

Package:

Cost:

 Description:

Prop Pool Tables

$1,100

These pool tables are for the final scenes of the film, even though we can't say how they'll be used in the film - we can say that they are intricate to the plot, will be worked on by the best Special FX Artist in the country and that the first person/s or sponsor us the cash for them will get to take one of them home!

Make Up

$2,700

Obviously a critical component of shooting any film. While we can always get away with less, this will ensure that everyone in the film is always looking like Oscar material.

Lenses, Grip and Lighting

$3,000

We have the camera, we have the rig, we have the lights, what we lack are all the bits and pieces that move , clamp, lock, and look with these tools. This cash will help us secure an awesome lens kit as well as grip equipment for camera and lighting.

Props & Wardrobe

$2,000

While a lot of our locations already have dressings, there are obviously a few things that no amount of begging, borrowing or stealing will get us. This cash will help us make the world of DLG absolutely REAL.

Set building

$2,000

A few sets need to be built, particularly for the final scenes of the film (where we make Hostel look like a romantic comedy).

Editing Machine

$2,000

A solid static machine to do the cut on will mean we can work faster and more accurately with better tools. This machine won't be the ducks nuts, but it'll hammer out renders like a pro.

Catering

$3,200

While not enough to fully feed our cast and crew of 40 people, it will be the difference between hot chip sandwichs and something a little more nutritious...

Unit Expenses

$3,000

Miscellaneous costs on set are normally what kill a production, emergency supplies, extra fuel or replacements for broken or damaged equipment and the money to do it on the day is the difference between 40 people scratching their heads, and 40 people making history.

Insurances

$3,000

Can't make a film without it, just in case we decide to film the opening scene by strapping the camera to the back of a kangaroo and spraying it with a hose.

Marketing and Delivery Requirements,

$3,000

Finishing the film and getting it out there are always where most film makers fall down. This money covers international festival fees, posters and HD Tape masters among other things that distributors and festivals require before they can do anything with our movie.

TOTAL:

$25,000.00
