"A rousing tale of techno-geek rebellion, as necessary and dangerous as file sharing, free speech, and bottled water on a plane."  -Scott Westerfeld

Our Story

Custom Made is producing the WORLD PREMIERE of Josh Costello's adaptation of Cory Doctorow's Little Brother!  Little Brother is an important, entertaining near-future story about what rights we have already given up, and what might happen to the rest of our privacy and free-speech after the next terrorist attack.  It is also a love story, a tale of teenage rebellion, and a love-letter to the Bay Area.

This high-tech tale is about NOW!  We need your help to make this multi-media play as brilliant as it needs to be.  We need to raise money to help pay for a projector, a video artist, and maybe even a hacker or two.  Custom Made's ticket sales only cover 50% of our production costs, even on our low-tech shows.  For a show like Little Brother to be a success we need an additional $6500 to supplement our normal production budget.

About Little Brother:

In the aftermath of a terrorist attack on San Francisco, 17-year-old tech hacker Marcus is suddenly apprehended by the Department of Homeland Security for days of merciless interrogation.

When no one besides his friends believes his story, hes left with only one option: take down the system himself. Could this near-future story by the award-winning novelist and BoingBoing editor really happen here... or has it already begun?

What We Need & What You Get

We expect the extra multi-media equipment, and set up, we need will cost $5500.  We will either buy the best one we can from money raised, or rent an insanely awesome set of multi-media projectors and equipment    Extra staffing on this show is going to cost another $1000. All this is above and beyond the normal operational budget Custom Made has for our shows.

We have put together some exciting perks, including invitations to the first read, opening night, and Little Brother bookplates signed by Cory Doctorow himself!
