The Story
Compulsive Love is an ode to romantic love and batshit craziness. It follows Aaron, a hopeless romantic, who finds himself in increasingly insane situations as he falls in love with a new girl every episode. But the worse things get, the more determined Aaron is to push through to the pinnacle of transcendent love he knows is out there somewhere. Preferably with someone really hot.
Our Crew
Compulsive Love is still in the process of securing its wonderful team. Here's who we can tell you about so far:
Adam Szymkowicz (Writer) is the author of over thirty plays including
Nerve, Incendiary, Fat Cat Killers and
Hearts Like Fists. He also has a blog
here that everybody of or related to theater reads. Are you of or related to theater? Do you want to be? Read it.
Action.
Kevan Tucker (Director)
and
Tim O'Neill (Producer/Editor) collaborated on
The Unidentified, a 2008 feature film which won Kevan the Best New Director prize at The Brooklyn International Film Festival. Check it out. It's on
Netflix. It's also on
Amazon, but if you've already paid for Netflix, it's FREE! Go Netflix.
Aaron Edell (Producer) is an award-winning film maker and long-time collaborator with Kevan and Tim. Edell recently co-produced
True to the Heart, which won several awards at the Long Island International Film Expo. His documentary film
37 Million and Counting was nominated for best documentary at the South African International Film Expo, and won an award of merit at the Accolades Competition. Its currently used as part of a curriculum in over 50 Universities and Colleges around the world.
We'll be providing you with updates on the cast and crew as the process moves forward. Expect all the updates to be awesome, because everyone involved is. Awesome.
What We Need & What You Get
The entire budget for the project is $15,000, but we're trying to raise enough to get us through shooting ($7,500) on IndieGoGo. This is a labor of love for everyone involved (translation: nobody is getting paid.) The money you so so so so so (so) generously donate will go to food (because if you can't pay people, you've got to feed them well), transportation, locations, and props. And, of course, film magic, which is expensive.
We have come up with an exciting list of incentives! YES, THERE IS SOMETHING IN IT FOR YOU! You can see our full list of incentives on the side, but let me point out a few to you. For $50 Kevan will bake you cookies (a flavor of your choice) to go along with your signed Compulsive Love poster. For $500 you get a drawing of yourself on our website by our designer, Ben Dale, expert comic book artist. At $1,000 you can be credited as the Executive Producer of our show. And for $2,500 the grand prize is an all-expenses-paid date with a cast member. There may be safe words involved though. The producers of Compulsive Love are not pimps.
Also, I wasn't anticipating this, but Adam said it in the video so I suppose it has to happen. If you give us exactly $3.50, I (Kevan) will give you a kiss.*
Other Ways You Can Help
I understand money is tight for a lot of people, but there are a lot of other ways you can help us achieve our goal. First of all, please pass this along. Tell your friends about us. Repost it. Help us get out there. Also, we are looking for locations. The show has a lot of them including pool halls, bars, churches and cafes. We need a total of eight apartments to shoot in for a day (sometimes two). If you or anyone you know would want to let us do that, tell us. We'll cook you dinner and give you a foot massage.
*To qualify, you must present a clean bill of health or good word of mouth.
