Post5 Theatre's Mission Statement:

Through classical and contemporary works alike, we seek to harness and showcase the immeasurable vision and commitment of both emerging and established theatre artists-- to create affordable, accessible, and engaging theatre events that ultimately hold the mirror up to, and celebrate, our own life experiences.  

This past summer, Post5's inaugural production of Romeo & Juliet brought FREE outdoor Shakespeare to 1,400 patrons -- an accomplishment we are very proud of! But the work is not over, and neither is our insatiable desire to bring quality storytelling to our community. The Post5 Theatre company and our team of dedicated artists strive to bring live theatre to Portland that is:

But it's not just about that, folks...

The Post5 Theatre Co. is based out of the Milepost 5 Community for Creatives, located in NE Portland.

Our base of operations is located right off of 82nd Ave., one of the longest thoroughfares in the city, in an area of Portland currently in a state of renovation. We strive to be an ongoing part of that positive change within our community. 

After witnessing the overwhelmingly successful turnout for Romeo & Juliet, it is clear to us more than ever that our community cries out for more performance art and live storytelling, that is accessible to all income levels and tax brackets. 

They say laughter is the best medicine... and with this ruckus, feel-good, and fast-paced comedy, we want to provide all this, with bells on!

 

What We Need & What You Get

Last summer, we shared with community members of all ages a true classic, and perhaps the greatest love story ever written... This winter, we would like to offer up one of the silliest works of the modern era, with The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)! Here are the reasons we think this show will be a warm offering to NE Portland's chilly winter:

  • It's laugh-out-loud funny!
  • It's fun for the whole family!
  • It takes place in an on-site restaurant, so food & libations are close at-hand!
  • It doesn't cost an arm & a leg to enjoy!

... But it does cost us some to produce free theatre, and that's where you come in!
This show is chocked full of quick costume changes and prop pieces, so lots of clothing articles and dozens of hilarious props integral to the storytelling are required. Not to mention that we have brought on several driven and imaginative artists to be a part of this endeavor, and help us to build a professional quality theatrical experience. We would very much like to monetarily reimburse these talented theatre artists at the end of the show's run. Because after all... heartfelt gratitude is priceless, but money helps keep the electricity on.
