Our Story

"Coming: A Rock Musical of Biblical Proportions" is a new work of musical theatre by playwright/composer Erik Ransom. It premiered in Philadelphia at The Prince Music Theatre under the direction of Mark A. Dahl and Bill Egan of the Traverse Arts Project. "Coming" enjoyed a sold-out run with universal praise from local and national press, including The Huffington Post, the Philadelphia Inquirer and The Edge Media Network. Our brief run, had audience members coming back up to 6 times, and scalpers outside the theatre on closing weekend! Now, with the support of Philadelphia's Barrymore Award-Winning Brat Productions, "Coming" is looking to take Manhattan! Under the direction of acclaimed director Madi DiStefano, "Coming" will be showcased for Broadway and Off-Broadway investors at the beginning of 2012, with the goal of opening the show for a commercial Off-Broadway run later that year. In addition to our Philadelphia team, "Coming" is now being supported enthusiastically by New York's own Brierpatch Productions and is being represented by The Pepper Law Group. We have a stellar team and a realistic business plan in the works, and we need support!

Recently we acquired a $7500 grant from the very generous Wyncote Foundation, which challenged us to raise a matching amount on our own! We need support from friends and fans like yourselves to match Wyncote and get to our goal budget!

The Impact

In addition to being an entertaining piece of theatre, ("Bold, campy, glam fun", according the Toby Zinman of The Philadelphia Inquirer) "Coming" has proven to be a very moving, thought-provoking play for many different kinds of people young and old, ranging from self-identified Christians to ardent atheists and everything in between. In spite of its irreverent sense of humor, "Coming" takes all sides of the age old religious arguments very seriously, and has been able to do so in a way that is both entertaining and moving. If you're not sure, check out our press!

What We Need & What You Get

Our goal is to show New York that we have a viable, marketable show for their commercial audiences! So, we're renting a theatre space, hiring a band, bringing together some top-notch Equity and Non-Equity actors, and putting on a basic version of the show for potential investors who might want to take a chance on our daring story. Obviously, with this happening in New York, even a small presentation like this is an expensive endeavor. We want to do this right, and that means money! We're looking for financial support on all levels!

We know it's tough out there, right now, but if everyone on the fan page alone can spare just $10 (Less than a single martini or glass of wine in many places!), we will be well on our way to our goal!

Fortunately, with the sponsorship of the Brat Productions Non-Profit for this presentation, all of your donations are tax deductible! In addition to tax deductible donations, we can also accept inquiries from potential investors who might like to see a return on their contribution. But, as we're only seeking a limited number of investors, this option is open to large sum contributions only.

Other Ways You Can Help

If you're a true victim of the recession, living in a tent city with hipsters, 'Occupying' some parking lot: at least please share this with friends, family and anyone you know who may be interested in supporting a brave new piece of musical theatre with an uncompromising voice, and a powerful message.
