What The Film Is About
Class Dismissed will be the first full-length
documentary devoted to exploring homeschooling as a viable alternative to
traditional schooling.
As homeschoolers ourselves, we are constantly reminded by
the degree to which the public misperceptions of homeschooling are far removed from
reality. With this documentary we hope to both educate the general public as
well as inspire the existing homeschool community.
But we cant do it alone: we need your support &
guidance!
What We Need And What You Get
As you may be well aware, making movies is not cheap.
Hollywood considers $1-3 million a low-budget film. Thankfully we have the
skills, experience, and connections to make this film for substantially less.
If enough people contribute even a small amount, we can make this film. If we are able to reach our immediate goal of raising $15,000 well be able
to:
- Green-light
the film (in non-Hollywood terms, this means the film will be guaranteed
production)
- Obtain
the necessary insurance and legal documents
- Cast a
family for the documentary (the documentary will center around one family
making the homeschooling decision)
- Rent
camera equipment, sound equipment, and lighting packages
Our film is supported by the San
Francisco Film Society so all of your
donations are tax deductible. We understand that times are tough for some
people but even $10 will be an enormous help in making our dream a reality.
** 10/5/11 NEWS: The National Home Educators Network (NHEN) is providing a separate matching donation for the first $5k raised here. This means each dollar that you contribute will count as two.
Other Ways You Can Help:
Spread the Word Do you believe in the project and think it can make
some kind of impact? If so, then
