About City Wild

The Phoenix Park in Dublin, Ireland, is 707 hectares in size. It is one of the largest enclosed recreational spaces within any European capital city. It is larger than all of London's city parks put together and more than twice the area of New York's Central Park.

Some of the staff that tend to the park daily (rangers, gardeners and deer keepers) also live inside it; some have even grown up in it and retired in it, having the park as their garden for life.

City Wild is about these people and about experiencing the park through their eyes; how, everyday, they hold a delicate balance preserving the immense biodiversity of the area while keeping it as a public recreational place.

The Phoenix Park is a National Historic Park and much more: its a wildlife reserve and a busy urban park hosting hundreds of major public and sporting events annually.

Its inhabitants range from the President of Ireland and the US ambassador to a wide variety of birds and a herd of Fallow deer! It is a whole world in itself.

How Much We Want and What Its For

We are looking to raise $7000 (roughly 5000) to pay mostly for the postproduction, (the colour grading, sound editing and mixing, etc.) and also to get the film out on the festival circuit and to a screen near you. This can sometimes be the most expensive part of filmmaking. Everything else we are going to do we are using our own equipment, time and resources to bring the film as close to completion as possible before we spend any of your hard-earned money.

About The Perks

For your generous contributions to City Wild we have some fantastic perks on offer: from a big thank you from us right up to a picnic in the Phoenix Park itself. The RED FOX perk includes a copy of the final film and a exclusive picnic in the park with 24 of your fellow contributors, us and as many of the cast who are available on the day. We have teamed up with local Irish business Home Organics to prepare a healthy feast for the day, and we get to thank everyone who can make it in person. 

If you can't make the picnic -and, let's be fair, some of you might not be able to hop on a plane just to go to a picnic- you can avail of the FAWN perk. Not only do you get a copy of the film and a full-size poster, but you also get 5 instructional videos of how to cook 5 original Spanish recipes with the same ingredients from Home Organics. Leticia (not Paul, thank god!), will bring you through, step by step, how to prepare and cook original recipes passed down from her mum.

Our top perk, FALLOW DEER STAG gets you everything, thats right, the whole kit and caboodle, a thank you on the website and on the film's credits, a copy of the DVD, a post card, a poster, the picnic (if you can make it), the 5 step by step videos of fantastic Spanish recipes, as well as an Associate Producer credit on the film (just think of the bragging rights there). Also, if the film screens near you we will organise two tickets for you to see it; if we get to go as well, we'll take you to dinner before the screening and bring you to any of the festival shin digs that we are going to -how cool is that?!
