CHI L'HA VISTO - WHO SAW HIM: CINEMA AND DVD RELEASE

»Chi l'ha visto« (debut feature film, 92 min.) follows the story of a young half German half Italian who goes on the search for his real father in Italy.

OUR STORY

In autumn 2009 we finished the road movie Chi l'ha visto (Who Saw Him) which we shot in Germany and Italy.

Chi l'ha visto coasts on the charisma of its subject, Gianni Meurer, a young man who was raised in Berlin by his German mother but decides to search for the Italian father he hasn't seen in over 20 years. The biographical details are reportedly true, the action pure fiction.

The interweaving of elements of reality and fiction is a characetristic of my debut film, which tells with honest sympathy of the deep unease of its protagonist and the journey of a friendship through an alternative, unremarkable and undiscovered Italy.

When completed, the film was shown at several festivals, including the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, the Montral World Film Festival, the Torino Film Festival and the Film Festival Max Ophls. The film was very well received and we got lots of positive feedback.

"A film, emanating from a deep personal need, whose persuasive honesty touches the audience." (Torino Film Festival)

Now we want bring the film into German theaters, followed by an international release in cinemas worldwide and distribution via DVD and download. Five cinemas in Germany have agreed to host the premiere of Chi l'ha visto in August 2011. Until then, we need to produce the necessary copies and create some awareness for the film.

THE IMPACT

Chi l'ha visto raises current questions for society: How much influence does an absent parent have on our quest for identity, especially when this parent is from another country? And how influential is such a (non)-relationship concerning our friendships, relationships, basically our whole lives?

Now, with your help, we will produce the film copies for the theatrical release and publish the movie on DVD.

WANTS & NEEDS

Because the film was very well received internationally, we address this campaign not only to fans in Germany but an audience worldwide. For your support we provide different kinds of perks, which you find on the right.

The money goes straight into the production of film copies for the theatrical release, the subtitling, recording of audio comments, DVD-authoring, promotional material (posters, postcards, trailer production etc.), press screenings, travel and transportation and general marketing activities.

We planned to produce some 35mm copies for the smaller cinemas and some digital copies for the larger ones. In case we don't reach our funding goal we still guarantee that the film will be released in cinemas and on DVD. However, the theatrical release will be delayed and we'll have to move the premiere to another date.

During the campaign we provide you with all the important news, some special promotions and fresh ideas!

OTHER WAYS YOU CAN HELP

To reach our campaign goal, we not only aim to get your financial support. Please also tell your friends and everyone you know about Chi l'ha visto and support us in spreading the word.

Jan Kedves, Spex Magazin about Chi l'ha visto:

A haunting, calmly photographed road movie with a clear sense of beauty of the landscapes of North Italy circling around questions of personal as well as national identity. A refined reflection about how lost family members influence the life of those left behind and even control it. The more improbable the 'findability' of the missing person, the stronger do they determine the 'mental maps' of those left behind.
