Synopsis:
COME ON DOWN! trains a documentary lens on fans of ‘The Price Is Right.’ The contestant pool for ‘The Price is Right’ constitutes a subculture in itself, begging the question of who goes on this journey and why. We interviewed housewives, rock bands, college students, scholars, grandmas, fanatics, and regular Joe’s. The TPIR-stories we have collected offer a hilarious and lighthearted glimpse at a truly unique staple of American popular culture as devotees live their American dream.

"Come On Down! celebrates the fans of the iconic game show, The Price Is Right. Since its inception in 1972, the Price Is Right has drawn hundreds of thousands of Americans to Hollywood with visions of cars, exotic trips, shiny appliances, and a televised fifteen minutes of fame. This heartwarming and hilarious documentary celebrates game show culture, the American dream, and the infectious excitement of four-generations of 'TPIR' fans.

I get on the stage and I was so excited. I popped Bob a crisp salute, because he was a sailor, you know, he was in the Navy and he obviously recognizes that I’m a marine. He said, “Alright, let’s play your game.” The big doors open and out comes this beautiful bed; it’s a nice waterbed." |
