We are an association of individuals who want to show by concrete action our support and respect for the Bosnian people and work towards reconciliation in post-conflict areas.
Each year since 2002, volunteers spend one month in Bosnia-Hercegovina to share a sense of common humanity and cultural awareness. While our activities thus far have focused on Bosnia's rebuilding process, our activities and mission speak to the larger cause of developing an international mindset, cultural sensitivity, and a belief that cross cultural engagement and education can help to heal post-conflict wounds and prevent the miasma of stereotyping and ignorance from spreading both within the US and abroad.
A long-term goal is to expand our project not only throughout Bosnia but to give this cross cultural educational opportunity to students in a variety of nations. Additionally, our aim is to offer service not only in English Education but in whatever area the community deems most helpful and necessary. Whether it be the rebuilding or repair of a library or community center, or spending time at a local USAID center or orphanage.
Conflict creates wounds that are incredibly complicated to heal. Builders for Peace is dedicated to helping through service, education, discussion, and cultural exchange. All funding will go directly towards the rebuilding projects, education materials, and the transport and housing of volunteers in Bosnia.
Thanks in advance for any support you can give.
