The Story

I graduated last summer with a degree in photography from Sheffield Hallam Photography, after which I spent a couple of months unemployed before taking a job au pairing in Paris for 6 months. Unfortunately since that has come to an end and I've returned to the UK there are just as few jobs around. I've got a job in a pub, but the hours vary from 30 hours one week to 8 hours the next, which leaves me financially stranded. Right now I'm unable to move back to Sheffield to find work because of being on an NHS waiting list (and I'd have to go back to the end of the queue if I moved again).

So where does this leave me? Well, it leaves me in Bourne, Lincolnshire, living with my dad and his fiance, with no car and very little in the way of job prospects. However! It's not all doom and gloom... Because on the weeks where I have very few shifts leaves me with plenty of "free" time. Which has led to me beginning several personal projects. Including mini-projects documenting local clubs, like the Scrabble club and the local Crown Green Bowling club, and a bigger project Bourne in general. As well as trying to continue my project about the Women's Institute nationwide.

What is Needed & What You Get

The money you donate would specifically buy a lighting kit (something I had previously borrowed from university, and didn't think that I'd miss so much!) which would make it possible to do the portrait sittings of the members of the WI, Crown Green Bowling club, and the Scrabble club. The light kit is also a fantastic general investment for me, which is why it is a priority. Secondly the money would help towards paying for a high quality printer, which would make it much cheaper and faster for me to produce high quality prints, which is very important!

The end result will be a local exhibition and an online gallery with prints available. I would like to exhibit further away but that is something that I would have to apply for further in to the project, but I will keep you posted!

Basically at the moment I have somewhere between 5 and 10 % of a project done... Your donation would make it possible for me to complete the project, the rest is legwork!
