OUR STORY

Murphy Gilson is a writer/director in Los Angeles but not the rich and famous kind who has George Clooney on his speed dial. No, hes just a regular guy who works at his surprisingly regular directory job.

His last film, though, was pretty successful. It was a short called Partially True Tales of High Adventure! starring Johnny Sneed & Shannon Elizabeth. It played at 50 film festivals on four continents, including Cannes, and won a dozen awards.

Now hes got a new story to tell. A story about love. And cardboard box robots.

Boop Beep is about childhood wonder and how simple things can be magical. says Murphy. I feel like with Photoshop, digital cameras, and all of our gizmos even our every day lives can be over-produced. I want this to be an organic, handmade film.

Hes joined by feature film producer Gregg Daniel and feature film producer and director Clint Hutchison. Together theyre creating a quirky little fairytale called Boop Beep.

THE IMPACT

From the director:

To be honest, if you dont support Boop Beep, it doesnt happen.

Obviously, I feel this story is special. I think it speaks to the heart, and who couldnt use a little joy in their life right now? But independent film has been hit hard by the dip in the economy. Many great independent companies have folded and fewer and fewer films are being made.  Even the major studios are cutting back.

But what about just telling stories for the love of it? No studios, no stars, no dream of making it big. Just a little imagination and a lot of hard work.

WHAT WE NEED & WHAT YOU GET

Beep Boop is a love story. And so is the story of how we're making it.

You give us some love, we give it right back to you.

Were going to try to raise $4,500 to make this film. Thats less than a quarter of what Partially True Tales of High Adventure! cost but we think we can do it.

The largest part of our budget is, of course, our stars; two cardboard box robots. Designed by artist Marie Rim and built out of found objects and household parts, these will be the best cardboard box robots any kid ever dreamed of building.

Well have a great team of volunteers - maybe even you! - grips, assistants, gophers... Theyll be working hard for a few long days and we'll need food, coffee and Red Vines to help keep them upright.

There are some other, less exciting things we have to get like permits, insurance, some gear, and a couple of location fees.  But thats the boring stuff they never talk about in the tabloids.

OTHER WAYS YOU CAN HELP

Hey, times is tight. We know how it is. But you can still join the circus. We'll need help through out the entire process, even on set. If you have gear, a particular talent, can host a fundraiser, or even just want to lend a hand - let us know.

The easiest thing you can do is to just tell everybody you know about this. You can like the Boop Beep Facebook page (http://www.Facebook.com/BoopBeep) and invite all of your friends to like it too.  Share our updates, repost them yourself. That could make a huge difference!
