Our Story

The Bob Moog Foundation ignites the innovator in us all by exposing children and adults to interactive educational experiences that draw from Dr. Bob Moog's legacy of groundbreaking work at the intersection of music, science, history, and innovation. Our hallmark educational outreach program, Dr. Bob's SoundSchool, offers an exciting full curriculum that teaches the physics of sound through the magic of music.

Through SoundSchool students use theremins, synthesizers and acoustic instruments to make music and experience hands-on how sound travels and how sound waves and sonic vibrations are created from electricity and magnetic fields.  Dr. Bob's SoundSchool students also learn how to be good scientific observers from notes taken directly from Bob Moog's very own science notebooks. 

This campaign will help fund a national launch of Dr Bob's SoundSchool so that students everywhere can be exposed to our innovative curriculum and be inspired to learn the science of sound through the magic of music.

The Impact

Growing Dr. Bob's SoundSchool nationwide will affect thousands of children. It will excite their sense of scientific discovery while exposing them to music, culture and history. In the current economic climate where arts programs are being cut and where our country struggles to keep up with the rest of the world in science achievement, Dr. Bob's SoundSchool fills a much needed void of innovative education that merges disciplines and ignites creativity. 

Bob Moog's pioneering work changed millions of lives; the long-term impact of SoundSchool bearing his name will do the same.

What We Need & What You Get

Our goal through this campaign is to raise $50,000. This funding will assist us in:

•  Hiring SoundSchool staff
•  Purchasing needed equipment and developing specialized materials.
•  It costs the Bob Moog Foundation $10 per student to bring SoundSchool into the schools. With $50,000, we can educate 5,000 students across the country. That's 5,000 kids who get excited about scientific discovery behind the physics of sound.
