What's
it all about?
"Bloody Cuts" (BloodyCuts.co.uk) is a 13 part short film anthology, inspired by
classic series from the past such as "Tales from the Crypt and The
Twilight Zone. So far we've released 2 episodes - Lock
Up and Stitches, to much acclaim,
and the combined costs have been very small in comparison to other productions
typically of this scale. We're now going into production on Episode
3 in the series, but still have another with 10 more episodes to make. And the only way that can truly happen is with your generous pledges...
Our stories are
diverse, dipping into many horror sub genres. So you'll see the paranormal, monsters,
serial killers, disturbing events and urban legends. They're all in there, in some fantastically
suspenseful and horrifying shorts that we really can't wait to get made for our
ever widening audience. Our first 2 episodes have over 10,000 hits combined on YouTube, after only a few weeks of them being live, and we've received rave reviews from all the top online horror sites.**
How
will the money be used?
To
help us complete the final 10 amazing episodes of the series!
Film
funding is scarce in the UK, making it incredibly difficult to get projects
made. But we're fortunate enough to have many things covered already, including
professional equipment, Special Makeup FX and highly skilled and willing crew
members. However there are a small number of recurring costs; the single
biggest aspect being Locations which,
can be extremely expensive. As an example, we expect to pay anything between
500-1000 per day at a minimum. Unfortunately our pockets are not that deep
and without quality and exciting places to shoot out stories, we'll likely not be able to complete the 13 part series we've set out to make.
Location
is key in filmmaking, (what would Norman Bates have done without his motel?)
and we've pretty much exhausted everything that is available to us now, so your
money will quite literally put our films in their place. Other money will go
towards much needed costumes, Props, travel costs and in very rare occasions accommodation.
*To viewers from the UK, please view bottom of the page to find out about currency conversions.
Be
a part of the action!
We
need your help, and are offering many incentives to get you on board. There's a
number of options available, from t-shirts, DVDs and signed original artwork,
to training, on-set experience and cameos. We're UK based, but don't let that
stop you from pledging, because our audience is worldwide.

Have
you seen our campaign video?
We're
hoping that this demonstrates a lot of the reasons why you should invest. We're
creative, wildly imaginative and know we can do a lot with very little. But
there is a limit, and we don't want to stop making these films under any
circumstance. Any pledges will go a long way towards making this happen.
$20,000
sounds like a lot of money, and it is! But spread that over 10 high end
productions and it really is quite small in general filmmaking terms. We won't
be financially profiting from any of it, and instead are ploughing it straight
into the areas that we really can't afford to fund ourselves. You're helping
several filmmakers to realise their dreams!
So who are we?
Our website gives a great overview of the team behind the project, but we're a small UK based filmmaking team, and much of us are industry professionals, whilst others are simply friends and family who under any other circumstance would never typically work on a creative production such as this. But we're horror lovers first and foremost, and are simply trying to make some great films with high quality production values. And we think we're achieving that so far, but our short films can only continue to be made with your help.
Need
any other reasons to pledge?
After
the success of our first episode, we joined forces with the BAFTA award winning team at Millennium FX; Europe's leading creator of cutting edge prosthetics,
animatronics and special make-up effects. Their film work includes Saving
Private Ryan, The Mummy, The Wolfman and Children of Men. For TV you've seen
their work in the likes of BBC's Dr Who, Being Human and Little Britain.

They
have committed to working with us until series completion, meaning our
special make-up effects are in the some of the best hands in the business.
Further to this, we also have access to an amazing warehouse and back catalogue
of prosthetics and special FX creations.
With
all this in our hands, just imagine what monstrosities could appear in future
episodes!
Got
a few minutes to KILL?
If
you can't afford to pledge, you can still help us. Tell your friend, families,
colleagues, post it on Facebook, and Tweet about us! It all helps to bring interest
to our campaign and project and will go a long way towards getting us where we
need to be. And if you want to contact us, please visit us by the website and find our details on there.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT, FROM ALL THE TEAM AT WWW.BLOODYCUTS.CO.UK.
*Important payment info for our
UK supporters
Firstly, you can pledge from anywhere in the world, even though IndieGoGo
deals in US dollars. PLEASE dont let that put you off. You can pay through Paypal.com (with no account required), and its just the same as paying for
anything else online. As a rough guide, $1 is the equivalent of 65p, so that
would mean if someone was spending $25 it converts to 16, and $50 would be 32, $100 would be 63, $200 would be 126 and so on.... Try http://www.xe.com for other currency conversion
amounts.
**What
people are saying about "Bloody Cuts"...
Horror fans have something to look forward to. (They)
cut away all the fat, and present viewers with a very concise horror short. Dont be misled into thinking because the budget is low these
films look like they were shot in someone's basementWhat I've seen so far has
not only looked very professional, but also (and more importantly) truly builds
tension, the goal of every horror creator."
DreadCentral.com
Britain is known for its remarkable horror
through legendary studio, Hammer, and its good to see that Britain still plays
host to dedicated and passionate filmmakers. What I love about Bloody Cuts is
that they take original ideas and mix them with the scares we love. They have put a fresh spin on old
skool type scares and made it their own original work.
HorrorCultFilms.co.uk
These are not just low-budget experiments. These are truly something
special. For fans of horror, and developing talents in the genre, these are a
must watch.
DailyGrindhouse.com
"Takes its first bite out of the horror cake,
and good grief, it made one hell of a splattering in my mind." Run-Riot.com
"A great exercise in tension-building and
suspense."
Quint (Eric Vespe), Ain't It Cool News
Well-shot, well-paced and well-acted, with a
creepy vibe that builds to a shocking conclusion, its superbly done
Fangoria
What
we get is the makings of a high-quality piece of cinema worthy of the big
studios. What theyve delivered is a short but engaging example of what
talented lovers of the horror genre can do.
AnythingHorror.com
I am impressed. With shoe string budgets the first
two short are really well done.
