Our Story

I'm J.C. Arcello, a young writer from Brazil.

As most people know, being a writer these days is a "little" hard. Expecially if you don't know anyone who can REALLY help.

And then I ran across Indiegogo...

I'm writing a book soon to be published online, and, hopefully, as a physical book as well.

The story, for those interested, is a story of vampires.

"Another one?" You may ask.

But I hope you'll find this one to be unlike all the other ones you have read recently.

For some unknown reason, vampires have been turned into Prince Charming. Well.. They are not.

But why not?

Why are vampires humans one day, and then monsters the next? What happens to them that makes them turn evil?

This is the focus of this story.

Drama, political ploting, magic, sex, the discovery of an animal nature and blood, lots of blood: this is what you'll find when you read these pages.

The title is still in progress, but the book will probably be called "The Order of Aset", which is one of the five global intitutions responsible for keeping the Dark in the dark. The competence of the Order's leader is being severely questioned as another possible leader is found: a young woman recently turn into a vampire, who fights in the hopeless attempt to preserve her humanity as we watch her go deeper and deeper into the animalesc nature of all vampires.

Her only possible ally is an ancient pure blooded vampire with a hidden agenda of his own, and the everlasting intentions of breaking free from the invisible handcuffs that enslave him, connecting him to the leader of the Order.

Her only possible friend is a young human man, with a secret rage against all sorts of demons after his entire family was slaughter by one.

Her only possible hope is another ancient pure blooded vampire, responsible for locking his vampire friend to a human, with the desire to awake an old powerful darkness, and who may or may not be lying to her.

She will not know who to trust.

She will not know what to do.

But she is turning into a monster, and her whole body desires blood of others.

And to choose a vampire to protect them, will be the worst idea humans have ever had.

The Impact

When I first sarted to write this book, the idea was that it would be somewhat of a tribute to the original vampire myth. So from there to here, I've been reading all sorts of vampire (and thriller related) stories imaginable. From Bram Stoker's Dracula, to H.G. Wells's The Island of Doctor Moreau; from the House of Night series to Anne Rice's books, I'm trying to read everything and anything I can get my hands on.

Not to imitate them in anyway whatsoever. But to be inspired by the myth, and by the original idea of what a vampire is, an how it has changed over the years. To get the essency, to help me tranform the young woman into a full grown monster.

I believe that is important to revive a healthy fear and suspense in our imaginations. One that does not exist without our good old monsters.

That doesn't mean it's a story where you'll necessary need to hate vampires. It'll just be the kind of story where you can learn to like the vilains.

This book is made for that number of people who are done having to read romances whenever they want a vampire story. This will hopefuly be a tale of vampires in the shelves of a bookstore somewhere, that reminds us, lovers of the vampire mythology, that vampires are monsters. And that that's exactly what we love about them.

Now, the art work will be divided in two parts

1 - Cover: wich will cost $ 1.200,00

2 - Inside ilustration: wich will cost $ 1.000.

The page design will cost around $ 3.000,00 (the charge is a determined value for every page)

The total amount would be something over 5.000 USD, but with 2.500 I can get started on a lot of things.

I'm brazilian, so I'm having a professional translator doing the translation (portuguese to english) for me. He's a friend, so he wont charge me. That's great cause I can have more people actually reading the book.
