Our Story

Hi. My name is Linda Borghi and I am the Biodynamic SPIN Farmer at Abundant Life Farm (www.abundantlifefarm.com) in Walker Valley New York. I am not a part of the SPIN organization, I'm just crazy about it. About a year ago Roxanne Christensen of the SPIN organization (www.spinfarming.com)  contacted me to see if I would be interested in assisting a group in SIerre Leone. That is where this all began. Our beginning plans was to have two woman Mamakoh and Fatamata come here to Walker Valley New York to intern here at Abundant Life Biodynamic SPIN Farm. This was my first encounter with the immigrations process and needless to say, we were not successful in our endeavors. Since then I have been instructing them from here and now they are to a point were they are ready to launch their farm Seeds of Knowledge outside of Freetown in Sierra Leone. How exciting is that!

The Impact

The impacts of this project will reach far and wide. It will put into place a Successful Farming Business Model that will encourage a nation to feed itself while at the same time  attaining financial security.

What We Need & What You Get

We are looking for $7000 in funding. What that will give us is a direct connection to our compost and our seeds. In order to grow Biodynamicially we need to produce as much compost as we can. In Biodynamic Agriculture the soil is everything and we improve it through the use of compost.

The organic waste materials that we need are located in the city of Freetown and our farm is located outside of the city. $5000 will buy us two vehicles called tricycles so that we can move this material from the city to the farm. The $2000 balance will be spread between: seeds, tools, cooler, paper and ink. What ever dollars are generated from this project will go first to transpotation and then the rest as listed.

Here's the cool part, what's the exchange. Well, believe you me, learning how to grow your own food is becoming very valuable knowledge right here in "River City" so for a contribtion to this project you may just become a professional farmer generating $50,000 on a HALF ACRE of land! How much more benefit can you get from one small project!

Other Ways You Can Help

Okay, so how else can you help other than contributing monetarially....well, you can encourage others within your own networks to take a look @ our project and ask them to do the same. Before ya know it,  tonage will be moving on those tricycles, straight to a sustainable African Nation!
