'Billie & Billy' a fantastical children's short film

The fantastical tale of the twins Billie and Billy who face a mad professor and mysterious Mrs. White in an attempt to to avoid being sold by their parents...

UPDATE: Any donation given in the last 4 days will be matched by an anonymous contributor (with a max of $1000 or until the $5000 goal is reached). This means that if you contribute $5, we will get $10. $50 will be worth $100 and so forth. Thank you for your support!

INT. STEAMPUNK WORKSHOP - CONTINUOUS

The professor turns his steam powered wheelchair around, thus noticing Billie pointing the toy sword at him. Billy is fighting her to get his sword back.

PROFESSOR
Let me guess: Twins?

Billie lets go of the sword. The professor hands them a cup of tea and Billie sits down.

PROFESSOR (CONT'D)
Visitors, eh? Haven't had any in
years. What brings you here?
You've come for my inventions,
have you?

BILLY
What? Uhm - no, sir.

PROFESSOR
Hmph. You sure?

BILLIE
We're running away.

PROFESSOR
Oh, that's alright then. Come on,
drink up.

What's the story?

The story is what it is all about. And this story will let the audience take part in a magical world where a pair of eleven year old twins can overcome their evil parents who want to sell them, the people who want to buy them, as well as a crazed inventor and the mysterious old woman on the top floor.

Plot outline

Billie and Billy are eleven-year old fraternal twins whose parents have decided to sell one of them to get a tanning bed and that impressive exercise thing on TV. So Billie and Billy decide to run away to stay together.

In their attempt to escape the tenement building, the only place they've ever known, they fall upon the hidden workshop of an old professor who has a machine that might teleport them to safety. But he needs the magical crystal belonging to the mysterious Mrs. White who lives on the top floor.

And so Billie and Billy set out on their biggest adventure yet...

If you are able to support us with $10/6/7 (or more), you will receive a copy of the shooting script when it is done, so you can find out how the twins fare before the film is shot.

Why do you need my help?

The film is our graduation film from The Northern Film School and will hopefully help the careers of everyone involved. We are given a moderate budget from the film school, but making a film that takes place in a fantastical world including a large steampunk inspired workshop requires a lot in terms of production design.

The money we get will primarily be going into creating this magical world, but your contribution would also mean that we can give a reasonably decent meal to the dozens of people who are giving their time and talent to the film for free. If we reach the goal we will also be able to afford filming on a higher quality camera as well as submit the finished film to children's film festivals around the world. With a bit of luck you will get to see it on the big screen near you, and even if you don't, you will know that your contribution made it happen so kids all around the world will get to spend their own 15 minutes in the company of Billie & Billy.

Even if you can't afford to support us financially, we would really appreciate if you joined the Facebook group, told your friends and family about this great project, twitter about how interesting #BillieBilly is looking etc. With you helping us get the word out there, we can get the film out there.

If you're a fellow filmmaker/artist who wants to contribute in other ways, don't hesitate to get in touch.

What's in it for me?

Everyone's a winner here! We would like to think that we have some interesting perks for our backers, including the possibility to be part of the film even for the smallest donation. For some of the bigger donations we offer something for both the ears, the eyes and the ego: The score by filmmaker and composer Paul Terry, custom artwork created by artist Jessica Rose and a chance to get your name on the credits and IMDb.

All the practical information

The shooting dates are the 1st to 6th of November and the film will be shot on set and location in and around Leeds, UK. The final film will be ready for the world in January 2012.
