Our Story
The film is about a young woman who, with the sudden loss of her love, takes sanctuary in a new strange world. Deep in this wonderland she discovers an elusive Man in White who tempts her to follow him down a dark path. There she encounters many other frightening characters who threaten to keep her in Wonderland. Will she break free from his hypnotic trance or is history destined to repeat itself even deep within her own imagination?
The Impact
I believe that every filmmaker that grew up reading or watching Lewis Carroll's fairy tale has an Alice in Wonderland story within them that needs to be told. Carroll's story is about a girl who's curiosity leads her into strange and new places that she's not all that ready to be led into. It's a story we all can identify with. In my reimagining Alice is no longer a young naive girl, but a woman who is stuck making the same mistakes over and over again. Wonderland isn't just her sanctuary, its her opportunity to break free.
I also am a firm believer that you don't needs millions and millions of dollars to make a quality fantasy film . Despite what the box offices and film executives will tell you, story is the heart of any good movie, not expensive visuals and special effects. That's why it is my goal and my experiment to make a short fantasy film for under two grand.
What We Need & What You Get
Unfortunately bringing a world of fantasy to reality isn't easy. I want to send the audience, down a rabbit hole, across a deep forest full of broken mirrors and shattered clocks, and through the twists and turns of a hedge labyrinth, all in under 5 minutes! This requires many different and sometimes expensive elements. Our wonderfully talented cast and crew are donating their time and energy so that all the money you donate today will go straight manufacture sets, buy several props and create fantastical costumes!
To give back to you our beneficiaries, we have some amazing prizes set up! We have a number of brilliant local artists working with us to bring you some awesome merch. Including: for those who donate 50 dollars or more a t-shirt with our logo that says "I joined the mad tea party" (picture of the shirt coming soon!), and for 500 dollars or more you can get a copy of our illustrated script, full of beautiful drawings by local artist Alexa Pelech (www.alexadora.com ). Also you could walk away with a prop from the film! Ever wanted your very own mad tea party cup or mug? Here's your chance!
