Our Story

We want to make a feature length documentary about a group of brave Girl Scouts (Guides) in Kenya who are fighting AIDS. We need your help to raise $10,000.00 in seed money to make a trailer that will begin to tell these brave girls' stories and will enable us to apply for grants and other funding to complete the 90 minute film.

In the Girl Guides' amazing Peer Sex Education for HIV and AIDS Prevention program, girls are taking the Girl Scout motto "Be Prepared" - "Uwe Tayari" in Swahili - to a whole new level. Girls are teaching sex education to other girls. Girls are teaching girls to take care of themselves.

In a place where...

1. Girls are three times as likely to contract HIV/AIDS than their male counterparts

2. Girls are pressured to get married at a very young age - often as young as 12 or 13

3. Girls are forced to trade sex for money and food to support their families

4. Forty percent of girls are raped

...the Girl Guides of Kenya have become a force for social change.

The Impact

Every 15 seconds another young person around the globe becomes infected with HIV. Despite numerous sex education programs in place worldwide, young people are dying.

The fact that these Kenyan girls can overcome tremendous economic, social, and political pressures in an attempt to secure a healthier future for themselves and others is a testament to strength and courage. We want to capture these girls' remakable stories to show people around the world that they can also make a difference.

Fifty percent of new AIDS cases in the US are found among young people between the ages of 15 and 24 (CDC 2009). We hope that people who see our film will make a choice to save their own lives or the lives of someone they love.

Where Your Money Goes

We are not receiving salaries to make this film and we are producting it with very low overhead. Your money will go directly to hard costs such as equipment rentals, production supplies, airfare, travel expenses, and post production costs. Your contributions will also go to pay the much needed salaries of our hardworking local crew on the ground in Kenya.

Other Ways You Can Help

Please tell everyone you know that might be interested in our film about our efforts and please share the link to this site. Thank you.
