Maya Jewell’s career path is traditional to that of artists. In other words, non-traditional. She’s done everything from wash dogs to founding a nonprofit. And has returned for the first time, to her first love…film.
Bakery Films is a niche film company focused on creating the new Woman Pictures. In the 30’s and 40’s there were magnificent roles for women actors; big stories with bigger characters.
There were movies like “The Women” with an effortlessly female case. Other films like “Animal Kingdom” while not necessarily female centric, had characters of astonishing (by today’s standards) depth and strength.
Bakery Films aims to be the legitimate heir (heiress?) to this tradition of filmmaking by representing the artists which create this work and producing and developing projects with women characters any actress would love to sink her teeth into; and any female audience member would love to see.
