When a young Russian-American’s little sister is kidnapped by a sex trafficker, he tries to negotiate with leaders of the trafficking ring to save her. The film is best described as a character-driven thriller built on moral gray areas and psychological nuances rather than on stereotypes and cliches. BABNIK will be shot almost entirely in Russian and exhibited with English subtitles.
(“Babnik” translates as “ladies’ man” or “womanizer,” and in the fictional universe of this film, the term will serve as a euphemism for sex traffickers.)
