BARE
a short film

When Aaron finds HIV medication in his roommate's drawer, he is thrown into a state of uncertainty, knowing they share a sexual partner. As his paranoia and denial grow, it becomes difficult to differentiate reality from imagination, lies from the bare truth.

Our Story

Writer Brandt Miller and director Sean Devaney began creating BARE in January 2011. Twelve months later we have assembled an amazing cast and crew to capture hours of evocative footage. Now, we need YOUR support to realize the film's vision through post-production.

The Subject

In creating BARE, we want to bring the subject of HIV front and center. With a new generation coming of age post-AIDS crisis, the conversation has quieted and a gulf has formed. A sense of distance and stigma has been bred. We don't seek to provide answers, but instead, to shine a light on the issue, to begin a discourse, in a dramatic and unique way.

As a short film, BARE covers a 24-hour period of not knowing one's status - full of paranoia, fear, and confusion. As Aaron tries to piece his sexual history and potential exposure, his sense of reality unravels, blurring the line between reality and imagination.

What We Need & What You Get

The film is "in the can" - but now we need to get it onto the screen and into festivals, which is where you come in. We are in need of finishing funds to hire:

- Sound Designer  --  creates all the sound you hear, from effects to dialogue
- Colorist  --  makes it all look beautiful
- Film Festival Fees  --  everything from submission fees, to postage to tape duplication

EVERY and ANY level of donation ensures that we can hire the best of the best and deliver an amazing final film.
