HOW IT STARTED

In April 2009 - I brought my favorite actors out to an abandoned oil refinery North of LA and we began to improvise based on 3 things. 1. I covered them in dirt makeup. 2. they had to wake up from sleep not knowing who they were. 3. There would be random wormholes. We shot with no crew. Just actor, director and his camera.

WILLIAM MORRIS ETC. -
So after a year of this I edited a 3 min teaser with about 1/3 of the story line (see it on apocalypticplayground.com) and we walked it into the William Morris Agency in Los Angeles. They LOVED the teaser. So much that 2 of the big packaging agents there sent it with our script to the Literary Dept. who came back with a "Pass" meaning they didn't want to deal with it's complexity. Then we took it to FOX and pitched it to the TV head of development. She loved it, but found they had another project they were developing that was the same sci fi genre, so they passed.

I still get fan mail from the original web series from 2009. So many people want to see more. So a few months ago I gathered the actors, put on the writer's hat and slowly rewrote and came up with a story line that is now a feature length script which has some similarities to Shakespeare's "THE TEMPEST" except modern with spaceships and planets and robots.

WHY NOW?
We are ready to take this to the next level. After interviewing 25 cinematographers we now have an amazing visionary who can bring our original style together with his brand and give us something "epic" allowing me to both direct and play a character.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? -
With your involvement we'll succeed in bringing many months of our work and preparation to the screen which will help us pursue our goals in the film and TV world as Actors, Producers and Crew members. This film has the possibility of being a trilogy which means future work for everyone involved. These days it's important to generate your own work rather than wait around for a big studio to come hire you. Call it being pro active.

Now IF we don't achieve our goal financially here on Indie Gogo, we will still take your generous contributions and get Apocalyptic Playground the feature film going. All this money will get put towards the Production process and get things in motion. Every Feature film that I've had a major part of (director, exec producer) has been completed. That is something I take very seriously.

WHAT WE NEED AND WHAT YOU GET - MONEY GOES WHERE?

Your involvement = contributions. These contributions will come together to make certain pieces of the film possible. Here are those pieces.

1. The use of cinematic quality film gear. Such as a RED camera, lenses, grip equipment.

2. Lighting equipment. Even in the desert we need ways to control the lighting to bring the film to a high standard.

3. Insurance - Production insurance allows us to work in many more possible locations and with the above camera equipment.

4. Props and Sets - Some of our Steampunk props and sets will need to be built.

5. Wardrobe - We have a costume designer who knows how to get the best use of recycled clothing to achieve a rag tag type wardrobe for the characters in AP. But we still need to get things for her to use to create each piece.

6. Sound - Sound is easily the next most important thing to picture. It can make a film easy to watch or impossible. We do need to hire a sound team.

7. Matte Paintings and Computer Graphic elements. Spaceships, planets, special FX, are all part of a SCI FI feature film and we are talking to some people who do these things very well for very reasonable prices.
